Yoga: Pathway to mind enlightenment and personality enhancement
Author(s): Dr. Prabhjot Kaur
Abstract:
Personality development quintessentially means enhancing and grooming one’s outer and inner self to bring about a positive change to your life. Each individual has a distinct persona that can be developed, polished and refined. This process includes boosting one’s confidence, improving communication and language speaking abilities, widening one’s scope of knowledge, developing certain hobbies or skills, learning fine etiquettes and manners, adding style and grace to the way one looks, talks and walks and overall imbibing oneself with positivity, liveliness and peace.
Adolescents need proper guidance for directing their energy to the development of the positive traits of personality; to understand and appreciate moral and ethical values of life. All adolescents must construct a set of values that will help them function as successful adult members of society. Many believe that yoga is simply postures and exercises to help strengthen the body and promote physical health. Others see it as a tool to cultivate both physical health, and mental well-being. Though it can indeed be used for both of these purposes, its true purpose is to lead one to self-realization, liberation and enlightenment. The path to enlightenment is attainable by practicing various types of yoga.
