Golf Swing Series: More on The Mental Game

Filed under: College Sports, Golf, Professional Sports, Society and Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:17 pm

An article about the mental aspect of golf.

It is a very true fact that the first idea about what shot to play, which club to use is invariably the correct one. This was seen when Aaron Baddeley won his first US PGA championship. Especially during the last few holes of the final day. Baddeley was leading by one shot from Jim Furyk. The approaches of the two men were very different. Baddeley fussed about, and made sure everything was correct and in order before he hit his ball. Especially his putting. Once he had made up his mind he walked up and hit his shot. No doubt, no hesitation.

Lining Up Before You Hit Your Golf Ball

Filed under: College Sports, Golf, Professional Sports, Society and Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:16 pm

An article about lining up before hitting golf ball.

The most important thing is to have your toes pointing towards a line which is pointing to the target. By this I mean, place a club on the ground between you and the target. Long axis pointing directly at the target. Stand with your toes just touching the shaft of the club. You are now lined up to make your golf swing and to hit your ball towards the target. Out on the course, you have to use an imaginary line in the same way. Before you hit your shot, stand with a club aimed or pointed at the target. You will see two images of the club.

Golf Swing Series: Bunker Play

Filed under: College Sports, Golf, Outdoors, Society and Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:14 pm

An article about golf and bunker play.

Don’t you hate those sand traps, whether on the fairway or near the green? You are having a wonderful game of golf, and you are even in the running for a win. You start to think what sort of a score you will have if you continue to play in the way you have played so far. Then, disaster, your simple chip is off line and heading for the greenside bunker.

Golf Swing Series: Your Ball Position

Filed under: College Sports, Golf, News and Views, Professional Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:12 pm

An article about golf and your ball position.

The orthodox position is just inside the left heel. (The left foot points slightly towards the target). This is a long way forward, and I believe it leads to all sorts of problems. You really have to keep the club moving along the path of the flight of the ball. It is easy to hit a fat shot when the ball is positioned here. It is also very easy to hook or slice from here. Especially if you are a little tired.

Rugby Practice Can Be Fun

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Articles about Sports, Coaches, Rugby, Sports — Author @ 7:42 am

Practice, by definition, is a chore. In order to perfect game-related skills, rugby players must perform repetitive, sometimes mundane tasks in a quest to build muscle memory and skill.

Make practice boring at your peril - players who dread practice won’t get as much (or anything) out of it, will distract the rest of the team, and may even quit.Having said that Rugby Practice Can Be Be Fun.

And always know that Good Planning = Satisfactory Outcome.

Athletic Tape Helps Athletes

Filed under: Athletes, Baseball, Basketball, Sports Products — Author @ 9:29 pm

More about Athletic Tape

So how can athletic tape help athletes? Not with serious, chronic injuries but with smaller injuries which won’t end an athletic career but may make it more uncomfortable for a time. Sore ankles, small cases of tendonitis, or minor strains or sprains can all be supported by appropriate wrappings with athletic tape. When taping an injury it’s important to give the injured area, be it an ankle, elbow, or limb, with enough tape to adequately support the area and take stress off the injury. Be sure to avoid wrapping the tape too tight, as this can cut down on circulation to the injured area and lengthen the amount of time the injury needs to heal.

New Balance Factory Outlet for Great Shoes and No BS

Filed under: Exercise Fitness, Outdoors, Running Walking, Sports, Sports Products, Tennis — Author @ 4:33 pm

My feet are large, flat, and square – 13 triple wide to be precise. If the floor is wet, my right foot actually suction cups to it. Before I discovered the New Balance factory outlet, going to the shoe store was emotionally painful experience, where I would have to spend hours to just find the one over-priced shoe which kind of fit my foot. After discovering the New Balance factory outlet, the pain decreased as, at any one time, they have had at least half a dozen shoes in my size and style (medium top cross trainers) which fit my feet just right.
