How to choose the right exercise for your body

Filed under: Exercise Fitness, Running Walking, Weightlifting — Author @ 11:19 pm

The type of exercise you do all depends on you and what you like to do. What you hate doing, paying membership fees, and whether or not to buy equipment are all things you need to consider as well as answer.

If you choose an exercise that you don’t like to do,you aren’t going to keep doing it for a long period of time.

Coaching Sports For All The Right Reasons

Coaching Sports The glove was put on display at my grandpa’s funeral. And, of course, the minister’s sermon contained many allusions to sports and frequent quotes from A Field of Dreams. All this made me ever so proud of my grandfather who enjoyed coaching and passing on his love of athletics to the youth in his town. It also made me remember why I chose to be a coach.

I Am Sure You Want To Improve Your Golf Swing

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Exercise Fitness, Golf, Sports, Sports Medicine — Author @ 10:08 am

Your ‘physical limitations’ are keeping you from making a mechanically sound and repeatable golf swing. Think just for a minute! If your body can’t make a 90 degree shoulder turn it’s a fact you will lose a TON of yardage off the tee and with your irons.

If you can’t maintain your golf posture throughout your entire golf swing you have no chance to swing consistently for 18 holes. If your core is weak you will not be able to generate any power going into impact, therefore you will see a weak shot that most likely goes ‘offline’ quickly. Can you see the picture more clearly now?

I don’t know about you, but I’m not the kind of person who goes on vacation just to lie on the beach somewhere.

Prior to going on my white water rafting vacation, I was a bit worried because I really didn’t know anything about such excursions. I didn’t know which rivers were suitable, I didn’t know which months were the best times to go, and I didn’t know which guide company to use.

Fortunately, white water rafting is a very popular vacation option, so I was able to gather a lot of information from the Internet. I found all of the answers to my questions, and came across numerous tips and great advice from other people with white water rafting experience. Here’s some of what I learned.

The Ultimate Golfer’s Head

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Articles about Sports, Golf, Sports — Author @ 5:11 am

When you play the mind bending game of golf it’s all in your head.

If you keep your golfer’s head cool and still, it will be possible to see the ball during the entire swing. If your head is moving, it will be impossible to keep your eye on the ball.

You can build your confidence by using this one technique. Keep your head still enough to keep a jar of water on the top of your head perfectly still and watch the ball as you swing. You will be able to see the ball better and hit it more solidly.

BMX Racing: An Overview

Filed under: Sports — Author @ 9:42 pm

BMX Racing is a type of bicycle race that is typically conducted off-road. It is a “sprint race where riders run on single-lap tracks which are usually 300-400 meters long and peppered with a series of jumps and bumps and banked corners known as “berms and a finish line. There are a maximum of eight riders in each race.

Who races BMX bikes? Our membership is as varied as they come, ranging in age from four to forty and coming from a diverse array of areas and backgrounds. Races pit members against others of their own age and ability. One great thing about BMX racing is that it is a family sport and a lot of the time, entire families come out to cheer on their loved ones as they compete with others in a spirit of goodwill and camaraderie. BMX racing is a terrific bonding experience, where Dad is oftentimes the coach and Mom is the chief cheerleader and provider of tea and sympathy.

Canoeing: An Overview

Filed under: Sports — Author @ 9:40 pm

Canoeing traces its roots to the very beginning of mankind. It was invented to meet the simple need of transportation across and along waterways. While it has now been replaced by motorized boats, planes, railroads and roads as a means or transportation, canoeing remains popular as a form of recreation and sport.

How do I get started? The best way is to join a local group or club – it’s safer, more fun and easier to learn. With others around to learn from, you get to master the basic skills more quickly. We regularly publish clubs that take in new members and offer introductory sessions for neophytes. You may also opt to join the many regional events organized by the British Canoe Union (BCU) and interact directly with highly-experienced paddlers. The main thing is to learn from a venue which can teach you the basic techniques and safety rules that will prepare you for a lifetime of aquatic adventure. At the moment, we are developing a national calendar of courses and events (see Events section). In addition, the BCU offers a list of qualified canoeing instructors, activity centers and clubs that can help you get your feet wet in canoeing. You may send a SAE to the BCU office for an updated list.

Make Free Throws, Win Ball Games

Filed under: Sports — Author @ 9:37 pm

The 2006 NBA Playoffs were one of the most exciting in the league’s 50-plus-year history, replete with as many last-second and overtime finishes that the league has ever seen in one postseason. There were nine overtime games and 13 games decided by two points or less.
Imagine that, 13 games decided by two points or less. If anything, the NBA Playoffs have proven the old basketball saying: every point counts. And, obviously, this reminds us of that other old hoop adage: free throws win ball games.

There are numerous opinions floating around in cyberspace, but the general consensus is that the best exercise for judo is the squat since it strengthens key muscle groups that are essential to judo. The Ins And Outs Of Climbing Rope

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Exercise Fitness, Outdoors, Sports, Sports Products — Author @ 11:27 am

Most first-time rock climbers rarely trusted their ropes; this is mainly because their ropes were attached to the rock faces through knots wedged into cracks or slings tied around rocks, which were then wedged into cracks. These climbers never fell; if they did fall their protection gear probably wouldn’t hold. Instead, it would rip out, causing both the climber and his belayer to plummet to the ground. Today’s climbing protection is fortunately much better, and most climbers, indoor and out, will regularly fall on their ropes and their protection while trying newer, harder routes.

Dirt Bike Stuff

There is also equipment that helps keep riders safe while riding through competitions and practice. Helmets come in various forms and styles to not only offer a sleek look but also to protect riders form injuries. Injuries to the head can be devastating, and are very possible in dirt biking. Special eyewear is also made for dirt bikers. Dirt and debris from a ride can easily make its way into a rider’s eyes causing irritation, blurred vision and possibly accidents. Any retailer who offers dirt bike accessories should be able to offer a number of options for protecting the eyes, as well as a special cleaner that prevents eyewear fogging up. Other important dirt bike accessories protect hands. Hand guards are not gloves but they come up over the top of the hand, a hard shield to help bikers stay safe and keep riding with minimal injuries.

The face of golf is changing. Just look at the likes of Tiger Woods, Camilo Villegas, and many of the other younger chiseled golf-bodies today and you realize that golf fitness is becoming a major part of the game. If players want to compete at the highest levels they have to have a physical routine, watch what they consume, be properly prepared mentally and then develop and follow a defined golf strategy that keeps their focus on the business at hand.

How To Lose Distance In Your Golf Game

Filed under: Articles about Sports, College Sports, Golf, Professional Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:11 pm

An article about golf and losing distance.

Do not tee up your ball too low. A lot of players will do this and it hurts their distance before they even hit the ball. When a ball is teed too low, the driver will not be able to sweep under it. Instead, it tends to force a steeper downward hit from the driver. Newer drivers have a larger sweet spot and the sweet spot is higher up the face than it was several years ago. What you want to do is tee the golf ball up with at least half the ball above the top of the driver head.

Professional golfers are not only very talented, but they play smart, strategic golf. And it is the “smart, strategic…” that separates them from the good amateurs and the average club professional. Are You Clueless On The Golf Course?

I love golf, and ALMOST everything that goes with it. The list of reasons to love the game is long and distinguished. Golf is very unique in the regard that in loving it, there are things that you can actually hate about it. Luckily that list is nowhere near as long as the love list. I don’t mind the 5 hour round, once I’m on the golf course, unless I have to be somewhere else at a particular time, I really don’t care how long it takes. As long as the round is moving at a decent pace, it should’t matter how long it takes. When you have to wait ten minutes to tee off on every hole, it can be very frustrating, but there are worse things on the golf course.

For The Love Of Exercise

Filed under: Exercise Fitness, Outdoors, Running Walking, Sports — Author @ 12:28 pm

The most challenging exercise I’ve ever done was mountain climbing which I ventured with a group of die-hard mountaineers 12 or 15 years ago. I was in my forties and a lot more agile then. Not only was the climb extremely difficult work – the human body wasn’t really designed for scaling a vertical rock face – but the thin air made it almost intolerable for my lungs. For the first few days up in the mountains, I felt like I couldn’t get enough oxygen. I was so dizzy and light headed. But I stuck through with it. And I vowed then I would never climb a mountain again.
