Coors Field - Denver, Colorado

Filed under: Baseball, MLB, Professional Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:57 pm

There are a few legendary major league that remain in use today like Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field, and Yankee Stadium (at least for another year).  Most Major League Baseball clubs have very new stadiums with a disproportionate number of parks that are 10 years old or less.  The new millennium brought about the replacement of so many baseball parks that debate of the value in old parks, while no one pretends it is fiscal value, was impassioned.  Many have accepted new ballparks as a reality and already formed opinions about their favorite parks.

Coors Field was built in 1995, two years after Denver was awarded their first Major League Baseball team.  Baseball in the Mile High City has endured great scrutiny and Coors was quickly known as a homerun ballpark.  This was tempered somewhat when the Colorado Rockies began storing the balls used at Coors Field in a humidor to combat the thin air in Denver.  Coors Field was one of the first new parks of the renaissance in MLB parks and is already one of the oldest parks in the National League.  One of the great things about Coors Field is that if you have a seat in the noseblead section, you get a beautiful view of the Rockies.  The sunset over the mountains during evening games is a great experience and Coors Field enriches the MLB experience for those who decide to take in a game in Denver.
