Sports events in Philadelphia

Filed under: Articles about Sports, Baseball, Exercise Fitness, Sports — cemper @ 3:23 am

As my parents were no big sports fans we never went to any sports events, even though sports in Philadelphia are big. I also never participated in team sports at school, something I really regret today.

Therefore, I never even went to any professional sports event until I was about fifteen years old. My parents didn’t like cheap beer and hot dogs and weren’t interested in baseball that much, so there was no point in going to a game for them. At the age of 15 however, a friend invited me to come to a baseball game with his family.

Honestly, I didn’t expect to like it as I had never enjoyed practicing sports or watching sports on TV. But this experience really surprised me. The stadium was filled with thousands of fans and you could really feel the tension ands suspense. That feeling was what fascinated me most.

After that I become much more interested in sports events and also started practicing sports myself. I recognized that there is a huge value in playing sports: you learn how to work together, you keep yourself fit and you learn that it can be fun to compete.

There are lots of good sports events that I visit regularly now. I do not only enjoy going to baseball games, but also to basketball games or football games. And there are lots of other sports events that I have visited too. So if you want to become a sports fan just check out one of the many sports events in the Philadelphia area or at any other location in America!

The ATV You Ride for the World To See

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Extreme Sports, Outdoors, Racing — Barney @ 8:50 am

ATV riders love to ride, tune and fine-tune their bikes to hit tracks and outperform other atv riders or just simply enjoy themselves. A lot of atv’s look fantastics and each rider can give their atv a personal look and feel. Some riders like to give it a simple, obvious, clean look, while others like it more complex with all kinds of design strokes, flames and what not. More advanced atv riders usually don’t care about the looks that much. They rather spend their money on fine-tuning how their bikes perform.

If you want to see some examples of kick-ass atv rides, check out the Gallery of ATV Pictures at AtvgraphicMan.com, the Custom ATV Graphics Kits site, and tell you friends about it.

Ski Vacation | Helicopter Skiing - The Ultimate Adventure Sport

If you’ve seen footage of skiers and snowboarders going down a seemingly untouched mountain, you ve likely wondered how they get there. And, if you’era skier, you ve probably also wondered how you can do it to. It’s helicopter skiing (or heli sking), and if you have the money and the skills, you can try it too.

What is Helicopter Skiing?

Whenever you go downhill skiing, you are limited by your ability to get to the top of the mountain. This usually means that you ski at a resort that is equipped with a ski lift. But more experienced skiers want the adventure of skiing down untracked snow. For those skiers, helicopter skiing provides them that opportunity.

Drake is making history in Iowa

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Athletes, Basketball, Coaches — Greg Everett @ 10:55 am

The Iowa travel guide lists several sports events as hot spots in the state. Of course they include the University of Iowa Hawks and the Iowa State Cyclones at the top of the list. Surprisingly the pro and semi pro teams fall under those two college teams in attendance rankings. Then they list the lower class teams such as UNI and Drake, although most of the state’s attention seems to be focused on the Drake basketball team this season. This team offers no scholarships but managed to get ranked in the top twenty in the nation. They are expected to get into the sweet sixteen this year with a good shot at the final four. No one wants to jinx their chances by picking them as the number one winner, but there have been whispers on the subject. The team was coached by Tom Davis until he retired last season. The new coach is none other than coach Davis’ son Keno. The players claim that they could barely tell the coach had changed, but apparently Keno has what it takes to make the chemistry work for the players. They will tell you that no one of them is a standout but together they are a force to be reckoned with.

Southeast Iowa fights proposed rule change

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Athletes, Sports Games — Greg Everett @ 10:53 am

The high school aesthetic association is thinking about holding some regional tournaments to increase tourism in the areas. The Southeast Iowa Tourism board is afraid that the effect will actually be to draw tourism dollars away from that part of the state. They claim that because they don’t have many large cities that they won’t get their fare share of the contests, thus causing people from that part of the state to take their dollars to other parts of the state with out a reciprocal number of tourist dollars coming there. The claim is that the Des Moines area would be the largest benefactor and they already get more money from in state tourists than any other area. The IHSAA is working on a plan to cover that irregularity, possibly holding several of the Des Moines area teams events in places like Mt Pleasant or Burlington. That suggestion is raising the ire of the Polk County residents as they don’t think they should have to travel for three hours to see their teams play. What they don’t realize is that all teams in the state that make it to the state championships take the drive to Des Moines to see their respective teams play.

Is Egg White Protein Ideal For Lean Muscle Gain?

Filed under: Exercise Fitness, Sports, Weightlifting — nicka241 @ 11:09 pm

If you’ve been training with free weights in hopes of building muscle and getting into great shape for any length of time now, you’re no doubt aware of the importance of eating high quality muscle building protein frequently throughout the day. While the need to consume protein this is a well known muscle building fact, many people are confused about differences between the various types of muscle building proteins.

While not as exciting as the new age whey protein supplements, egg white protein has been a staple of most well rounded bodybuilding diets for a few decades now at least. That said, where exactly on the spectrum of muscle building protein sources does egg white protein fall?

If you’re as confused about the muscle building properties of egg white protein as I was (before researching the subject of course!), take a few minutes to “crack the shell” and uncover the truth about egg white protein once and for all!

Central Iowa tourism increases as tournaments hit the area

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Athletes, Fishing — Greg Everett @ 11:44 am

The state high school tournaments are always held in the central Iowa tourism region as this is where the bulk of Iowa attractions are and is also the center of shopping in the state. Every tournament draws a different type of crowd. The wrestling tournament which just concluded brought an independent crowd, they aren’t the biggest shoppers but they do consume more food dollars per contestant than the other tournaments. Not that the contestants consume that much more it is their parents and fans that cause that increase. The next tournament scheduled to start next week is the girls state basketball tournament. This one causes an increase of clothing sales. With that many teenage girls in town and with prom being not that far off, it’s easy to see why those sales increase. The week after that the boys state basketball tournament comes to town. This crowd does increase the food sales but also seems to increase the sporting goods sales and not just things like team sports equipment. With the fishing season being on the horizon there is an increase in sales in fishing supplies too. Then next summer the soccer tournaments hit. These usually bring younger participants so the game boy related sales skyrocket.

Sports contribute to Iowa tourism

Filed under: Amateur Sports, Articles about Sports, Basketball — Greg Everett @ 2:36 pm

The high school sports contribute greatly to east Iowa tourism. There is a population center on the east side of the state so there are some of the state’s largest schools in that area. Surprisingly, although they do carry a large share of the fans there are actually more fans from the smaller schools that do the traveling. There are lots of small schools in the area and smaller schools seem to have more devoted fans, the ones that will get up and travel long distances to watch their sons and daughters compete to carry on the school pride. Most attention is paid to the larger schools because you can reach so many more fans with one message where as with the smaller schools you need to deliver your message eight or ten time to reach the same number of people. Now what we need is a place where we can get more schools in the same place at the same time, this is where the state tournaments come in. It is a great time as a good number of all sizes of schools occupy the same space for a three or four day period. That would be the best place to concentrate sales.

How to Track Down an Appropriate London Kickboxing Teacher

Filed under: Exercise Fitness, Martial Arts, Sports — hroberts @ 2:13 am

If you’re hunting for London kickboxing classes, you have your work cut out for you. Not because there are not many to choose from, but because there are so many!.Though there are many London kickboxing classes to choose from throughout the city, it’s important to note that, because of the ever-increasing good reputation of this sport, many of the kickboxing trainers you’ll come across are not fully knowledgeable in kickboxing training..

There’s a particularly high incidence of injury in kickboxing, mainly in the form of straining the knee, “tennis elbow” (extensor tendonitis),and pulled groin and back muscles. Not to speak of any injuries participants may sustain during actual kickboxing.Should youmake the risk of injury keep you from practicing an activity that you love? Of course not.If you’re careful, going to kickboxing classes with minimal risk is simple..

If, for example, you’re interested in kickboxing for health, there are several institutions and gyms in London that specialize in cardio kickboxing classes..The first and most extreme type of kickboxing is martial arts kickboxing. This is the activity that you see on television, practiced by ultra fit and knowledgeable fighters dedicated to the sport. If your goal is to become a kickboxing champion, this is the type of training you will need.

Another fashionable, kickboxing workout is Tae Bo. While this can be done using DVD videos, it’s better to do it with an instructor, as they can train you in the best ways to avoid injury. There are many companies out there who teach kickboxing with a focus on self defence. These programs are great for all levels of athletes, as they teach you how to get the best effect from every defensive and attack move. Many schools combine these classes with street awareness lessons to increase the effectiveness of the training.

No matter what your goals are, or what kind of London kickboxing it’s your goal to learn, there are lots of options out there for you. If you only spend some time researching the schools in your area, it should be easy to find the right one for you.
