Our daughter has decided that softball is her sport and she’s going to play first base.I’m just thrilled, my wife is scared she’ll get hurt. The lady frets constantly. I say to my wife be grateful it isn’t football or wrestling One of the things I was looking forward to was helping choose her youth softball mitt. I recall getting my 1st baseball glove with my father. That had been quite a while before, and so I resolved to look into the youth softball gloves these days. The web is loaded with lots of options for the fastpitch gloves. This would be fun.

After my girl started playing, she was initially assigned 1st base. I had been a shortstop, so I reckoned this was great. Right away we had to check out first base gloves. 1st base gloves are actually not the same as other infielder gloves. First basemens gloves are actually similar to catcher’s gloves. First base mitts are longer of course, but they also do not have individual fingertips. First base gloves come in both right and left, my girl is a lefty.

And so, my daughter and I were hoping to find a left handed youth softball glove. My natural inclination was to look at a first base glove from Nokona. I always used a Nokona glove whenever I played baseball. The Nokona glove that I had was an infielding glove, and so I wanted to check out other brand names too. I know the official baseball gloves of the MLB are Rawlings gloves. That does necessarily make the Rawlings gloves better than the Nokona mitt, but it makes them well worth a peek.

Rawlings manufactures 1st base softball gloves also, so at least they had variety. I learned that 1st basemen’s softball gloves were not any different when compared with first base gloves for baseball. The variety of Rawlings gloves was mind-boggling. On the Rawlings site there were 499 choices for Rawlings softtball or baseball gloves. Fortunately one could narrow the Rawlings gloves selection down by which arm you throw and youth and then infield softball gloves. This helped lots. Quickly I could choose from the 2 or 3 Rawlings gloves which I thought were likely to work for my my player.

I continued going back to the Nokona glove of my early baseball playing days. I decided to check out the particular choices Nokona had to present also. They manufacture plenty of first basemens mitts to pick from. I uncovered the most perfect 1st base mitt. At this point I needed to choose.

Finally, I determined to get the Nokona glove and one of the Rawlings gloves. My delighted daughter alternates between them depending if it’s cloudy or sunny. She is having a blast playing beginner softball, and my spouse is delighted that the girl has not got injured. At this point I’m getting excited about my daughter getting older so she can play high school softball. I definitely anticipate getting her another fastpitch mitt. I also cannot wait to look for some youth baseball gloves for our youngest son (just 6) as well as softball mitts through the rest of their early years.
