Cycling Holidays are Simply the Best

Have you tried the cycling type of vacation? You may think it’s not for you but read on and I think you may change your mind. This is where you travel to a beautiful country with a touring company. You will ride with the touring company across the country, visiting many beautiful places.

I try to explore a new country at least once a year.

Using a touring company has many advantages. If you choose a company such as cycling holidays who are very experienced they should be able to show you the best places regarding touring and the best places to eat great food.

I also make a lot of friends when I go on these tours.

When you decide to enjoy a bike tour you have the whole world to explore. I have enjoyed tours in many different places and I have experienced something new in every location.

Another thing I enjoy regarding cycle tours is I can experience the scenery in a much closer way. When you drive a car you are detached from the outside and you miss a lot of the beauty.

When you go on the tour you can either buy your own equipment or you can hire the equipment from the tour company. But I recommend you definitely purchase a cycle and use it before the holiday to ensure you are familiar regarding riding a cycle.

Make sure you try out our bicyle at least for a month before going on the tour as this will help you be prepared for your vacation.

I also want to talk about age and fitness when going on cycle tours. Obviously you need to ensure that you do not have any serious health problems before doing any exercise but the touring company I use has a number of different packages suitable for different levels of fitness and ages. You can choose an easy tour which does not travel over many steep roads. The company I use drives a vehicle a distance away from the cycle tour which you can use if you are tired and need a rest. This really helped me when I first started doing cycling tours.

Whatever country you choose to tour I recommend you learn about their culture before traveling to the country. If you learn about their culture then you will be able to experience many more aspects of the vacation.

My favorite country to tour in is New Zealand and you can learn more information from cycling NZ including all the locations in New Zealand that they tour in.

Anyway I recommend cycling tours to everyone as they are great fun and are good for your health.

I’m certainly going to be doing them for years to come.

Choosing a Schwinn Bike

I have always been an active person, and like to stay fit by participating in outdoor activities such as hiking and jogging. But I’ve also been suffering from a persistent knee injury for the past few years, which has slowed me down considerably. I can’t jog on a daily basis anymore, so my doctor has recommended that I take up a sport, such as swimming or biking, that places less stress on my joints. I choose biking, and am currently shopping around for a solid, affordable bike suitable for a beginner.

After checking around, I’ve decided that a Schwinn Katana Road Bike would probably be my best bet. There are a bunch of reasons this company and its products appeal to me, so I think I’d really be comfortable purchasing a bicycle from them.

Another reason I like Schwinn bikes is that they have a wide range of models to choose from. For instance, they have several models at entry-level price points that nevertheless provide riders with a bunch of nice features. Sure, an entry-level bike might not give you the smoothest ride or have indestructible components, but everyone has to start somewhere. Marin mountain bikes get progressively better as the price tag gets larger. Their top-of-the-line models, which can cost thousands of dollars, are made using the latest technology and materials, and feature a full suspension system that helps soak up most of the impact that comes from riding over rough terrain. I’m obviously not at the point where I need something that costs this much, but maybe I’ll get there someday!

Indoor Bicycle Trainer Information

Filed under: Cycling — Tags: — Janice Stevens @ 10:06 pm

A bicycle trainer brings the pleasure of cycling to an indoor environment that still allows you to ride your own bike, not just some exercise bike machine. If you’re serious about advancing in your cycling, a trainer is almost a necessity.

Not very long ago I was getting into cycling when friends in our group invited me over to their house. They planned to go on an indoor ride together. I never saw anything like it before. Didn’t even know these trainers existed. It turned out to be a side by side competition with the two of them racing each other on their bike trainers.

After that I was sold and had to investigate and research to get a stationary bicycle trainer for myself. One of the best investments I made toward my cycling hobby.

Travel First Aid Kit – Best Companion for Cyclists

Filed under: Cycling,Extreme Sports — Jenny Stevens @ 7:51 pm

If you are fond of going cycling 5 miles every morning then you will find a Travel First Aid Kit very useful for you because being a cyclist, you know the danger of going off terrain or off road. The fact is, cycling is putting you into a whole lot of danger.

For instance, when you accidentally bump into a car or somebody, it is inevitable you can injure yourself or somebody. A Travel First Aid Kit is not only for yourself but also for other people you may encounter on the road. If you are wise enough to keep yourself and others most of the times, take a first aid kit with whenever you do your daily cycling routine.

For cyclists, the most common injuries you can get is a sprain especially if you are still starting out to take longer routes. Although, muscle sprains would eventually disappear after some time, a Travel First Aid Kit will help you get into a better condition almost immediately.

Pain relievers are a good agent to help you with the pain. And bandages will ensure a consistent pressure on sprained areas, or ice packs will prevent swelling.

The point is, things go out of hand sometimes and you might not have someone to help you. A Travel First Aid Kit is a great help you if this happens.

BMX – Fun for the Whole Family

Filed under: Amateur Sports,Articles about Sports,Cycling,Extreme Sports — Sarah Khan @ 8:25 am

BMX Bikes Average BMX bikes have 20-inch wheels, but can be as small as 18 inches and usually no bigger than 24 inches. Not only can the BMX bike handle rugged terrain with speed, it handles wooden ramps, flat ground and obstacles equally as well.

BMX bikes are also popular in freestyle riding. BMX freestyle is a type of riding that involves performing tricks on the BMX bike. In BMX freestyle, there are different types of freestyle riding. Freestyle tricks can be performed on street, park, vert (ramp), trail and flatland arenas.

Folding Bike Street freestyle riders usually ride on public street or private property. BMX freestyle street riders usually perform complex tricks with improvised obstacles. Almost anything can be used as an obstacle in BMX freestyle, from benches, to rails and stairways. BMX bikes designed for street riding are the strongest types of BMX bikes. Street BMX bikes have multiple stunt (axel) pegs for grinding.

BMX riding in parks usually refers to skate parks. Skate parks come equipped with obstacles in which the BMX rider can perform tricks on. Skate parks are usually made of wood or concrete. The style of riding and types of tricks performed in skate parks usually differ depending on the type of park. Wood skate parks are usually better for technical tricks, while concrete skate parks are more suited for fast flowing riding style.

How to ride a motorcycle and find where the fish are

The idea of riding a motorcycle is to allow you the freedom of the open air while traveling. It can also be a very inexpensive way to travel or to commute as motorcycles get much better gas mileage than most cars. Learning how to ride a motorcycle is very important. You don’t want to be an inexperienced operator out there with so many other vehicles on the road. It comes down to learning the skills and believing in your ability to make it happen. Take it slow and easy and you’ll do just fine. After you learn how to ride a motorcycle you can even ride it to the lake.

How to find where the fish are is something a lot of newbies to fishing ask, frequently. Before you attempt to catch fish, you need to find out where they are. Fish are found nearly everywhere there is water, food, oxygen, and cover. You’re certain to be within close distance to a lake or stream that has fish in it. For a fisherperson this is good news but now you have to find the fish.

Not all fish live in the same kind of waters. Different fish tolerate different conditions better than others. Some include differing levels of salt, amounts of oxygen, amounts of food, water temperature, and hiding areas. The most distinguishing element of fish is salt. Freshwater fish don’t live in areas where there’s a lot of salt but there are some fish that need salt to survive. There are also some types of fish that can live in both saltwater and freshwater.

The only problem with motorcycles and fishing is you really need telescopic rods and lots of bungee cords to strap your cooler full of fish to the motorcycle.

Single Speed Bicycles Gaining In Popularity

Filed under: Amateur Sports,Articles about Sports,Cycling,Exercise Fitness — digihanger @ 4:06 pm

Until recently I did not know that single speed bicycles even existed. Multi speed road bikes and mountain bikes have become fairly sophisticated these days with so many having twenty five gears as minimum and many even more. That’s the problem.

Take a mountain bike for instance. When you are riding across rocky terrain , through bud and water and who knows what else the complex gear trains can take a real bashing. If it gives up miles from home you are in for a long walk.

Not so with a single speed mountain bike. Simple and easy to fix these machines are durable and reliable. They are also hard work on mountain tracks and hills. Which makes them ideal for anyone who likes a challenge.

If you can ride one of these up a steep hill without having a heart attack then you will be among the fittest of the two wheel cycle fraternity.

Cycling in Holland
The bicycle might have been invented with the Netherlands in mind. Not only is there a network of 10,000 km of cycle lanes with separate traffic lights for bikes at road intersections, but plenty of tiny roads lead into the heart of polders, farming country and forests. There are 13 million bikes in this country of 16 million people. If you’ve resisted the temptation to bicycling in Dutch cities for fear of swirling traffic, head out into the countryside. Hire a bike in town and take a train to almost anywhere you fancy, or hire a bike form the railway station at your destination, most main stations in the Netherland have hire facilities.

Saddle Height

It is important to have a correct position when cycling. If our saddle height is incorrect or our pedal action is misplaced then we can cause ourselves an injury. Take the time to determine your correct saddle height. If you do have to adjust your saddle height make sure you do it in increments. If you have several bikes make sure they all share the same set up and position. If you have different sized bikes it can cause problems especially when you are riding long distances.

Since dirt bike riders spend most of their time doing stunts, racing, riding on steep hills, uneven ground and rough terrain, the Helmet becomes the most important component of a dirt bike safety gear. Choosing the right dirt bike helmet should not be based only on the style or graphic design but on the degree of protection, safety and comfort it can provide.

Comfortable bicycle seats

Every person is built differently and as such the way they sit on their bicycle is going to vary from others. All bicycles come with a factory seat, but it’s actually rare that these are comfortable bicycle seats. Most of them are designed from dense foam and a hard plastic exterior. For someone spending considerable time on their bike this is quickly going to cause some uncomfortable aches and pains.

Oakley Sunglasses – Scams that damage eyes

Have you considered buying fake Oakely sunglasses?

Have you considered the value of your eyesight too?

Many of us have at one time or another succumbed to the bargain prices offered online and then have been disappointed upon receipt and perhaps you may have been successful returning those precious ‘oakleys’? to the supplier for a full refund. How many have actually succeeded? far less than those who haven’t, that’s for sure.

But have you really considered the consequences of donning the fakes, and looking cool whilst saving yourself a nice wad of cash in the process?

Ultraviolet light is one of the prime reasons we wear sunglasses (apart from the kudos aspect) and in nearly all cases the fake oakley sunglasses will have little if any protection at all – result – U.V. into retina equals damage.

Then of course there is the risk borne out of wearing them in the first place, like larking around with a football at the beach – that is until you get hit in the eye like a friend of mine – result? Shattered lenses – hospital – and bills that were far more than a genuine pair of oakley’s would have cost in the first place.

He was lucky, he lived to see another day. You might not be!

Filed under: Amateur Sports,Articles about Sports,Cycling,Exercise Fitness,Outdoors — martin@goipc.com @ 11:54 pm

When it comes to bicycle brand, do you know which one to choose? This can be a rather difficult process. Especially these days since there are a variety of bicycle brands to choose from. Bicycles Today

Filed under: Cycling,Exercise Fitness,Outdoors,Racing,Society and Sports — lc131@stoush.com @ 2:50 am

In some Western societies, after World War II the bicycle was largely relegated to a device for children, particularly in the United States. In some western countries, most notably Northern European ones such as the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, bicycle use for transportation remained fairly common.

Interest has gradually returned elsewhere, mostly as a fitness activity, hobby, and competitive sport.

More and more people are also using the bicycle as a short-range transportation tool, particularly in large, densely populated cities where slow vehicle traffic, high registration and parking costs, and environmental concerns have made commuting by automobile less attractive. This trend has been accelerated by the process of “gentrification” of the inner suburbs of many cities. Many cities are now providing cyclist-only lanes on roads, as well as cycle trails, for both commuting and hobbyist cyclists…
