Going to New Zealand for a Ski Vacation

Filed under: Extreme Sports, Ski — Author @ 1:32 pm

For those skiers who prefer the commercial resorts, the country has several on its north and south islands.  There are also private ski lodges located on the southern side of the mountains that require four wheel drive vehicles to get to, as well as some areas that require walking to get to because the terrain is too rough for vehicles.  Another type of skiing that entices people to go to New Zealand on a ski vacation is the heli-skiing and the glacier skiing.  However, in order to experience these types of New Zealand skiing, you must be at least an intermediate skier and have experience skiing on powder.

It can be very frustrating if you go a long way to see a bike and it is not as good as you expected it to be.

So, make sure that it fits snugly both for the toes and also for heel hold.

It’s a stance where you the front of the skis point inwards and are close to each other and the back of the skis are far apart from each other, simulating a triangle or “snow plow”. The snow plow position has two main advantages: 1) It’s a stable position and 2) It prevents you from going too fast and thus losing control.

Children will outgrow ski equipment very fast, so don’t buy new ski equipment for you children if you can help it. If you want your child to have his or her own equipment, look for used items - they’ll be much cheaper.

Water Skiing Is Easier Than You Think

Filed under: Articles about Sports, Extreme Sports, Outdoors, Sports, Waterskiing — Author @ 4:46 pm

An article excerpt from Sports Articles

Water skiing is something that takes a lot of practice, and is not really feasible if you don’t live near a waterway that supports it. You can’t really do it on a river, though wider ones might be okay. Lakes are the best, and if you have one nearby, water skiing can be something you can do with your family as long as safety precautions are taken. Some like to try it on vacation but that is rarely enough time to get really good at it. It is not as popular on holidays as it once was, but there are usually places to find it if that is what you want to do.

Just remember to wear the proper safety equipment when water skiing. That usually includes a safety vest that is needed for when someone falls off of the skis. This is very important for children, as most of them are not strong enough swimmers to be stranded in the middle of a lake while waiting for the boat to swing around. They should know how to tread water while wearing a vest before they attempt this at all. Water skiing can be a lot of fun, but it does also have to be safe.

I used to think that Sports Illustrated and ESPN magazines were the end-all and be-all of sporting news magazines. Lately, however, I have had to look at less mainstream sports magazines to really meet my interests. Sports Illustrated and ESPN are fine if you like baseball, football, and the other big sports. If, however, you want to learn about College Sports, Golf, Sport fishing, Olympic sports, extreme sports, hockey or other less mainstream forms of recreation and competition, you need to consult alternative sports magazines. If you look at your typical sports magazine rack, the offerings are pretty paltry. There might be a sport truck magazine, a sport fishing magazine, And a few men’s bodybuilding mags. That and Sports Illustrated Magazine are all that you will find in your typical grocery or drug store.
