Simple Golf Tips The Pros Won’t Tell You

Are you just starting out in the world of golf? If you are hesitating on what to do to improve your game, do not think you are alone. Beginners feel that way all the time, but smart beginners find this article and start getting better. This article will teach you the fundamentals of golf.

Make sure that you are holding your golf club correctly before you swing. The proper golf club grip is the foundation of the golf swing. Try to make sure that the handle rests on the palm of your hand with your thumbs facing down. Your hands should be touching. To hit the ball farther, choke up on the club.

It is important that you know the exact ball you are using during each round, and to share this information with the person you are playing with. This way, you always know which ball is yours and do not accidentally play the wrong ball, which can lead to a loss of a stroke.

If you want your swing to produce a fade ball, make your grip tighter. People often do not fully understand the importance of proper grip. It is possible for anyone to hit a fade or draw shot, no matter how strong or weak their left hand is. There are several methods for hitting a fade, but most instructors adopt a light left-handed grip when demonstrating this shot.

If you take the time to practice, you can keep yourself from making common errors like slicing. Slicing is cause by the club hitting the ball incorrectly and sending it to the right. There are a few simple things that can be done to fix a golf slice. Always be sure that your body, especially your shoulders, hips, and knees, fall parallel to the line of your target. On the downswing, swing with your hands and arms, rather than putting your body and shoulders into it.

If you are golfing with new people, be sure to introduce yourself before starting the round. You’ll be golfing with these people for the next several hours, so be social. Greet them, make small talk, and you will discover that even if you did not have such a good game of golf, you can end your day feeling good.

Although golf may seem like a complicated game, it really isn’t. It can actually be a leisurely activity. After reading this article, you should have increased your understanding of the sport and you should now be planning your next trip to the nearest golf course!

Sports Posters for Sports Fanatics

Filed under: Baseball,Basketball,College Sports,Football,Golf — Tags: , — Shannon Krauss @ 11:59 pm

I could remember growing up as a small child what a big sports fan I was. As a matter-of-fact, I knew that I was going to be a big sports fan growing up because I had such a passion for sports. Although, that being said, my passion for sports became detrimental to my academics as I spent more time studying sports statistics instead of math statistics. I eventually grew out of it and started getting much better grades. But probably my fondness memory as a sports fan was when I put up sports posters on the walls of my bedroom. I loved all sports back then, so I had football posters, baseball posters and basketball posters plastered all over my walls. Those were the good old days and it brings back great memories of the days of my youth.

One way to hit a draw

Nearly 80% of the golf population hits a slice as their normal ball flight. It is a really frustrating flight for most players because the ball nearly always misses right of the target and the distance of the shot is significantly down on what it could be. Golf lessons melbourne is going to offer you a way to straighten your ball flight out.

Here is one way to hit a draw shot that curves from right to left for a right hand golfer. Firstly, set up like you normally would at the target. Loosen your grip on the club so the club face actually rotates around to the left into a closed position. Now take your grip with the face closed in your hands. Now move your aim around to the right so your path is going right of the target. Swing normal and the ball should now curve for you from right to left. Visit melbourne golf lessons to get help with your game, whether you slice the ball or need more distance.

How to get off to a good start

One of the worst things about playing a round of golf is the feeling that you get when you get off to a bad start. We all know the feeling. Your handicap or your score is blown in the first 6 holes and it looks like you are going to have the worst round of you career.

Why does this happen? Golf lessons melbourne thinks this happens because of 2 reasons. Firstly, you need to start with a game plan for every hole that you play before you actually hit off. Golf is not any different to any sport in that you must have a strategy before you actually play. The plan must also match your skill level and the way the course is playing. Secondly, you must warm up properly. The team at Melbourne golf lessons believes that a short warm up of some stretching and around 25 balls on the range, plus chipping and putting will have you ready to start the game off well.

Characteristics Of A Good GolfCourse

Filed under: Golf — FrankA @ 1:14 pm

Both golfers and golf course designers may ponder the question: what makes a good golf course? The simple answer is, ,the lay of the land it is built on.

A good golf course should have rolling hills, preferably some ponds, trees, an area which can be used as a fairway, an area for a rough, and enough room for sand traps. However, there are a lot of so-called golfers who don’ t think a course should have any sand traps at all. They are wrong and the minority. Sand traps can benefit both the course and add to the skills of the golfers who play them.

A good golf course should be designed to make hole unique unto itself. If every hole was straight and four hundred and twenty yards, the course would be boring to play. A good golf course should have holes that dogleg both right and left, with enough obstacles so the flag cannot be seen from the tee box.

Good golf courses have elevated tee boxes to help the golfers get more height on their drives. Once the ball hits the fairway, the elevation will depend entirely on the skill of the golfer.

Another thing that makes a good golf course is the people who work to maintain it. Some courses have professional groundskeepers who have the job of keeping the fairways smooth, the roughs rough and the greens closely cropped. This can make the all the difference in the world to golfers, as can the type of grass used on the green.

Simple Golf Swing Tips

Filed under: Amateur Sports,Articles about Sports,Golf,Outdoors,Society and Sports — Tags: , — Tom Watts @ 4:35 am

The ability to repeat a simple golf swing consistently is a distant dream for most golfers. Hacks and slashes are usually the order of the day around most courses, no matter what part of the world you live in. Getting the basics right is the first step to improvement.

A key element to better golf that can be applied to see an immediate improvement in your golf swing, is to keep your head still and your eyes on the ball. If you can keep your head still, there is a good chance the rest of your body is following suit, which will allow your torso to turn around a straight spine.

To do this keep focusing on the ball and make a slow full shoulder turn, the shoulder needs to able to come under the chin and for this to happen your chin needs to be raised up. Try fitting a fist in the gap between chest and chin when practising your set up, this is about the right distance between the two. It stops the shoulder moving the head in the turn and limiting its movement. Tucking your chin into your chest is a common fault. Try incorporating lifting your chin off your chest as part of a pre-shot routine until becomes second nature.

As a way of making sure you keep your eyes on the ball, you should strive to see the club impact the ball, this will ensure you do not lift your head out of the shot early. If you top the ball alot, this could be your problem.

Club Washers and Solar Panels as Golf Accessories

The usage of the golf carts are increasing day by day. The most attractive feature of these low carbon emitters is the electronic feature that is provided. Again the wide variety of golf accessories available for these carts makes it more popular. The possibilities to customize your cart are infinite and the accessories can be easily installed in them. Irrespective of the model of the cart you give your cart your own touch up.

Ball and Club Washers

The most specific of the lot is the ball-washer or the ball, club washer, the sand and the seed bottle installation. The washer is a small plastic molded box that contains the detergent and water. It has dual compartments where in one the ball is washed off from the debris and dirt and the other where it is scrubbed clean. The sand and the seed bottle installation is a distinctly shaped bottle that contains the green provide. When the players swing digs a divot into the green; they are obliged to be repack the turf and repair the damage using the seed and sand. To clear the rear wind guard bag extenders are also used.

Solar Panels

It is one of the useful accessories that can be added to the cart. In the places where there is sun for a good duration, a solar panel can be used in the roof to charge the batteries. An hour of sunlight can prolong the range by a mile. The nightly recharge can be made even and balanced by trickle charging, it adds up the battery life for two years. The solar panel provides more power for the laptops, cellular devices and GPS trackers without any compromise on the travel range. It helps in the reduction of the carbon footprint also.

Sales Tax

This helps in lowering the electricity bills as well as enables you to acquire a Federal Tax Credit on 30%of the purchase rate. In Florida and Arizona, there is no state sales tax. It fights against global warming making these carts the future.

New to Electric Golf Carts?

The electric golf trolleys are becoming more complicated. Various models are available at the market today which can be used to control the speed in different ways. Speed can held constant or manually controlled depending upon the manufacturing of the trolley. The very basic electric golf trolleys are very reliable and they have an on off switch and also provide variable speed control. Some trolleys allow movement on its own for a certain minimum distance, say 20 or 30 yards thud providing a distance control. But attention should be paid because a trolley running by itself can sometimes trip over as the course is uneven so a trolley should be selected which has a rear wheel to prevent the slipping over. Sometimes this trolley can save in the memory the previous speed with which it was moving, so when we switch it on the trolley will automatically adjust to the same speed and will move with the constant speed.

The latest golf trolleys coming into market today have modern electronic features which enable us to preset a distance and also to calculate the distance traveled. A long term warranty period is absolutely necessary as the electronic equipments are more supplicated and may develop troubles more often. The new trolleys available in the market are attached with special systems which helps to maintain the speed at a constant level.

There is also a full remote control trolley available which allows the user to control the trolley from a distance of up to 40 yards. Each wheel can be controlled to left, right or reverse and there is a separate motor for each. Manual control can also be applied to these trolleys and they offer some disadvantages also. The twin motors calls for the need of batteries of higher capacity and the trolley as a whole becomes heavier and this results in discomfort for the person handling the trolley. Thus, though they provide the comfort of controlling from a distance, on the other hand offer disadvantages also.

Adjustable Drivers – Do They Really Help?

Filed under: Golf — James Langmead @ 8:42 am

The trend now with drivers (and irons soon see below) is to make the heads adjustable in some way shape or form however has this only served to confuse the end user or are they getting the added benefit of this new development.

Although not adjustable one of the first companies to offer some scope in manouvarbility was Ping as they had the Ping i woods which you could order with a standard, flat or upright position and although this has been done with irons it was afirst for the woods market. Strangely enough Ping who are pioneers in club fitting did not follow this through and have not entered the adjustable game yet.

The next breed of drivers came along and these had adjustable weight systems and the position you placed extra weight would change the height and direction of the shot and the first to enter the market in a big way was Taylormade and they offered a tool and instructions for the user and they have had succcess with these products.

Nike were the first company to add another element and they created a removable shaft system which adjusted the face angle and soon after this was introduced Callaway, TaylorMade and many others followed the trend shortly afterwards (I really do not know who was first but the one I saw first was the Nike STR8 Fit)

Now you would have thought that you could go no furher however this season Titleist have really pulled out the stops and they have a driver The Titleist 910 and this has a dual adjustable hosel system which allows you to open and close the face however you can also adjust the lie angle to make the club either flatter or more upright and from my first view of this I must say it is pure genius. As to have TaylorMade with the new TaylorMade R11 Driver

The big question is does this help the end user? Well absolutely although I have a BUT and the reason I have a but is that I have seen far too many golfers have a bad day with their driver and then look towards adjusting the head or shaft position when the problem lies with a poor technique or simply a bad day and adjusting the driver will only serve to cause more problems the next time the golfer plays.

The best advice when getting one of these drivers is to make sure you get fitted by a professional and stick with it as this new technology is fantastic and it has given club fitters like me to offer many more options to the end user.

Tips for Repairing your Golf Cart

Filed under: Golf — James Nicole @ 12:10 am

Nowadays golf carts are used widely; it can be seen in farms, in gardens and even in garages. Similar to other vehicles, the carts occasionally breaks down and repairing is done to it. Here follows a few simple tips regarding the repair of the carts.

Battery

If there is any problem with your cart, the battery must be checked first. If the battery is not moving, then the cart won’t be moving. The battery terminals must be checked and made sure that it is tightly secured and clean. A battery tester can be used to check the water level if the battery was recently hooked to its charger. If the level is down then distilled water must be added to it and never try to overfill it. Look out for the signs of battery acid leakage on the outer casing. If it is the case, then the battery must be replaced. And if it had leaked into the cart then that parts too must be cleaned. Foe the cleaning of the spill, mix a solution of quarter of warm tap water and half a cup of baking soda; and use a soft cloth clean it.

Tires

The golf cart tires are the common repair problem as it can take a lot of abuse on and off the course. In case the tire blows out, then it can be air-filled and can be patched using a rubber patch kit. The replacement is done in the case of tubeless tire. These tires can be mounted using lug nuts and removed using a wrench. Check the air pressure in the tires on a regular scale and do not overfill them. Excess and deficient amount of air can cause an uneven wear which eventually wears out.

Spark Plugs

With both the gas and the electric carts you can encounter the above problem. But in gas golf cart there can be spark-plug problem in the engine. These plugs are the ones which sets fire to the gasoline that flows into the engine. Any trouble with these plugs can cause the engine to sputter and cough and the cart to run roughly. Replacement is the only solution in this case.

3 Key Elements to a Golf Specific Fitness Program

Filed under: Golf — Phillip L. Bonet @ 11:51 pm

Many of the top touring professionals know that winning on the tour today takes much more than a great game of golf. It means understanding every aspect of their physical and mental being and what factors influence their performance. Gain a competitive edge in your next round by integrating these three key elements into your current fitness program.

Specific to golf – Get rid of the traditional gym machines which focus on isolating specific muscle groups and require no stabilization work by additional muscle groups. Integrate some old and new fitness tools which allow you to move your body in a more functional setting. These include cable machines, fitness balls, medicine balls, balance disks, traditional dumbbells and don’t forget about the power of using your own bodyweight.

Read these Golf Training Guide Reviews

Increase Core Stability – More efficient movement creates more efficient power. Golfers maintain an athletic posture over long periods of time and require both trunk and core stabilization and endurance. By increasing your strength and endurance in the core region of your body, you provide both a solid base of support for rotation in addition to the proper transfer of power throughout the body.

Vary your Planes of Motion during Exercise – A golf fitness program will have varying planes of motion as part of your weekly strength routine. Planes of movement include front to back motions, left to right and rotational exercises. Some good examples include multi-directional lunges and medicine ball wood chops.

Plenty Of Las Vegas Golf Courses To Choose From

Filed under: Golf — Quinton Odems @ 6:04 pm

Las Vegas may be best known for the neon lights, opulent casinos and fabulous nightlife but it is also a popular vacation destination for those people who love to play golf. With more than sixty courses to choose from, there is a Las Vegas golf experience to be enjoyed by players of all skill levels.

Course characteristics vary widely as do fees. The valley is among the more expensive places to play a round but when you think about what it takes to maintain a lush green facility in the middle of the desert, it is easy to understand why. Golfers can expect to get what they pay for with some of the most exclusive public and private clubs offering spectacular views and first class service.

Shadow Creek is among the most exclusive clubs in and around the city. This legendary course was carved from the desert landscape by well known architect Tom Fazio. The lush garden landscape, bubbling creeks and commanding waterfalls are framed by the mountain backdrop. It is literally rated one of the best places to play anywhere in the world and there are plenty of golfers who have this one on their target list.

Bear’s Best consists of holes designed by Jack Nicklaus that are based on his favorite holes from his most notable creations around the world. Bear’s Best is in fact the favorite Las Vegas golf course of a well-known entrepreneur/philanthropist, Ramon Desage. Every hole features its own unique style and look making it a test for even the most gifted golfers.

Other popular, if expensive, courses in Sin City include Cascata, Reflection Bay and Paiute. Golfers on a budget can take their clubs to Durango Hills, Palms or Angel Park.

There are wonderful places to get in a round if money is no object or the player is able to take a tee time midweek or later in the day. Championship courses are conveniently located to all that the city has to offer including world class accommodations, fine dining and entertainment. The Proper Golf Club Grip

What is the secret to a great golf game? A perfect golf swing. A great golf swing begins with proper golf club grip. Golf pros, executives, weekend hackers, and average Joes from all over the world will say, that for you to have a perfect golf swing, you must get a grip. A proper golf club grip that is. You may not have known, but there is not just one proper golf club grip – there are many.

The Vardon Overlap is the one most used by the best golfers. This grip is also called the overlapping grip, because the overlapping of your hands help them work together.

The Vardon Overlapping grip is done by taking the little finger on the trailing hand and place it between the index and middle finger on the lead hand (for right-handed golfers, the lead hand is the left). The lead hand thumb should fit in the lifeline of the trailing hand.

The Best Way To Improve Your Golf Swing

The best way to improve your golf swing is not to look at the complete swing, but rather, each component of the swing. You must take your golf swing apart, and look at each piece of it and make improvements where you can.

Let’s look at some parts of the golf swing that effect your golf swing.

Setup or address

Make sure your setup is correct and the same for every shot. The setup is an important element to improve your golf swing. If you aren’t consistent and vary your setup slightly for each shot, you may find that your club face comes through at a slightly different angle every time.

Downswing

The downswing is where you get the power into your shot. Power is not strength, but rather the speed that the club head moves. The wrists should remain cocked until you get towards the bottom of the swing. As you straighten the wrists, the club head will come through much faster. Your weight should be transferring to the left foot as you finish the downswing. At the time of contact, you should be square on with the ball.

There are other parts of the golf swing to consider, but work on these two tips and you may see some improvement.

Using the Refiner Golf Club For a Better Golf Swing

Filed under: Amateur Sports,Golf,Outdoors,Sports Products — fredster @ 10:40 pm

Ask any serious golfer about golfing training aids, which ones they like or used or have heard about to help them to gain a better golf swing, and many times they will tell you about the Refiner golf club because the thing just plain works. My golf drives used to be all over the inbounds fairway and out of bounds areas and my golf score was none the better for it I tell you. Talk about having no confidence every time I stepped on to the golf course.

But this swing trainer from Refiner Golf, this Refiner golf club, has made all the difference in my game, self esteem, and golf score.

When I first started using the Refiner club during practice sessions, my swing was pretty jerky but with just a couple of practice swings that worked to slow down my swing and make it more deliberate and more coordinated at each point, I absolutely nailed three drives at at about the 250 yard range or so. I highly recommend this training aid. Now when someone asks me about my favorite golf training aid, I tell them about the Refiner golf club.

Golf Practice Nets And Training Aids

Why is this? Because our body can’t perform a mechanically sound swing when it is weak and tight. Go back in your mind to the last time you hit a bucket of balls. Out of the whole bucket, how many swings really felt good, and the ball did what you wanted it to do? Probably not to hard to count them is it. So start at the begining go to the gym and get in better shape. I know that it is hard these days to make time for the gym and practicing but you can do it and you’ll be glad you did when you take your buddy’s to the cleaners.

Improving Putting Using An Indoor Putting Mat

No matter which putting method that you use, conventional, left hand low, or the claw you can benefit from an indoor putting mat.

Since most of us do not have enough hours in the day, an indoor putting mat allows you to practice at any time of day and during any type of weather condition. As you use your indoor putting mat, you will be able to focus on the fundamentals of your putting stroke without feeling any pressure of making a putt.

You can find indoor putting mats and putting greens in various lengths and sizes. They also come with slopes, curves, and hazards. Lengths usually vary from about three to fifteen feet long. Most of the cup sizes are a little smaller than the size of the cup on the golf course green. But this is good because it will help to sharpen your putting skills. Practicing with a putting mat should make the regulation cup on the golf course appear larger. Most of these putting mats will provide you the feel of putting on a well groomed green.

Most artificial putting mats are portable. You can roll them up for storage, placing them in your car, and even carry them on an airplane. A number of the putting mats even have an automatic ball return.

Another great aspect of these putting greens is the ability to adjust them. You can usually adjust the length, degree of break, pitch, and even the elevation. Do not worry if you are left handed because most of the mats can be used by right handed and left handed golfers.

After you receive your putting mat it is time to start your practicing. You need to practice, practice, practice to improve your putting skills and reduce the number of putts per round.

Do not forget that these practice putting mats are an excellent gift for anyone who loves the game of golf and wants to practice their putting away from the green.

The majority of professional golfers will say you that Titleist has been producing some of the best golf balls on the market for thirty years. When you hit that level of success it may seem hard to better what is already the best.

But somehow Titleist has gotten even greater! The new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls both have a new hidden seam design via its “staggered wave parting line.

These new golf balls likewise sport a brand new alignment marking which totally eradicates the need to draw a line by using a marker.

You’ll also discover these new balls are more responsive on the green, fly further and have higher coverage than older Titleist designs.

While the best golf ball may be fairly subjective, the new Titleist designs are certainly near the top of the list.
