I was at a pheasant preserve in the southern part of the state and had one of the best times in my life. We arrived on Friday to a wonderful bunkhouse that was clean and warm. There were bunks along the walls and a big table on one side. The morning of our hunt we were awoken by the sound of a rooster crowing. We geared up and went out to where the van was waiting. The guides took us out to a large prairie expanse and showed us where to walk. The dogs pointed almost immediately and we flushed three birds, only one was a hen. One of the roosters came down and the other flew off, but it got your heart pumping right away. The rest of the hunt was almost the same, every five or ten minutes the dogs would point and usually flush at least two roosters. It was one of the best hunts I’ve ever been on. Everyone returned with their limit except one older gentleman who said he had a good time anyway.
