There is no better thrill than attending a baseball game in person. Baseball is America’s classic pastime and has been enjoyed for generations and generations. Watching a game of baseball in person gets you closer to the heart and soul of the game than watching it on television. If you have never seen a baseball game in person then you are missing out on the feel of being in a stadium full of fans, hearing the crack of the bat, and enjoying the real outdoors and sunny weather.

Sports Ticket Broker

Filed under: Baseball, MLB, Professional Sports, Sports, Sports Products — Author @ 11:58 am

When many people hear the term sports ticket broker they think of a guy who has some sort of brick and mortar store selling sports tickets to those in need. The idea of a a company with a lot of overhead, tons of money to purchase large amounts of tickets and a license to do this all legally. This may have been true years ago but today many are selling sports tickets for their favorite teams right on their websites and making a nice amount of money. The idea here is to not be the sports ticket broker, but to be an affiliate for a sports ticket broker. To define the term affiliate in the Internet marketing world, this is more or less a salesperson for a company who garners sales for the business and in return receives a commission for each sale.

Yankees

Filed under: Baseball, MLB, Professional Sports, Sports, Sports on TV — Author @ 12:28 pm

Babe Ruth joined the Yankees baseball team in 1920, after his contract was sold by the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees. Babe Ruth’s popularity drew huge crowds to the Polo Grounds, the field that the Yankee’s had shared with the New York Giants since 1913. In fact, the Yankees became the first professional baseball team to draw more than one million fans in a single season. Facing eviction by the indignant Giants, the owners of the Yankees decided to build a spectacular ballpark of their own.

Coors Field - Denver, Colorado

Filed under: Baseball, MLB, Professional Sports, Sports — Author @ 2:57 pm

There are a few legendary major league that remain in use today like Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field, and Yankee Stadium (at least for another year).  Most Major League Baseball clubs have very new stadiums with a disproportionate number of parks that are 10 years old or less.  The new millennium brought about the replacement of so many baseball parks that debate of the value in old parks, while no one pretends it is fiscal value, was impassioned.  Many have accepted new ballparks as a reality and already formed opinions about their favorite parks.

Coors Field was built in 1995, two years after Denver was awarded their first Major League Baseball team.  Baseball in the Mile High City has endured great scrutiny and Coors was quickly known as a homerun ballpark.  This was tempered somewhat when the Colorado Rockies began storing the balls used at Coors Field in a humidor to combat the thin air in Denver.  Coors Field was one of the first new parks of the renaissance in MLB parks and is already one of the oldest parks in the National League.  One of the great things about Coors Field is that if you have a seat in the noseblead section, you get a beautiful view of the Rockies.  The sunset over the mountains during evening games is a great experience and Coors Field enriches the MLB experience for those who decide to take in a game in Denver.

Left Handed Baseball Gloves - Play Ball

Filed under: Baseball, MLB, Softball, Sports, Sports Products — Author @ 10:15 pm
Finding the correct left hand product is never easy. Sure, it’s possible to find many average left handed baseball gloves on the market but very few of them really stand out as superior. I have purchased many different sporting goods for lefties and I can attest that I have more than once.
Left handed baseball gloves should be manufactured with high quality materials. For reasons I’ll never understand, some manufacturers seem to think that the left handed baseball gloves don’t see as much action as their right-handed counterparts, so they don’t need to be as durable. Nothing is further from the truth.

Collecting Baseball Cards Is A Way Of Life

Filed under: Baseball, MLB, Outdoors, Sports, Sports Products — Author @ 5:23 pm

In a certain way, I understand where she is coming from. If I hadn’t been collecting baseball cards since I was a little boy, I would not see the point to it. You see, a baseball card collection is about more than the cards. It is about the greatest of American sports. It is about growing up, about your relationship with your father and your friends, and about the dreams that you would one day become a star.

Baseball-Coaching the Youth of Tomorrow

Filed under: Baseball, Coaches, MLB, Sports — Author @ 7:52 pm

Coaching a child is a delicate practice that may affect one’s self–esteem. Parents and coaches are so much into winning that may cause negative effect over the child. Being too ambitious or going too much into an aim can harm the youth. We make the mistake of over criticizing them instead of building their self-confidence. A parent shouted to a child from the bench that if he does not hit he is not getting dinner at the evening.

Steroids - Do ya like this one?

Filed under: Anger Management, Baseball, MLB, Society and Sports, Sports — Author @ 12:44 pm

Now this is what we are talking about! Let’s have a little controversy….check out this response to our steriods report..

“Steroids should be required. Tht’s right required! Pro sports are entertainment that we pay well for. If a substance can improve the product, we have a right to the best product possible since we are paying for it. If steroids can help an athlete run a 3.9 40 or an 8.9 100m, we should be able to see it. It is not cheating. The athlete still has to perform. If steroids were available to Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle, you bet your ass they would have used them to improve. Stop bitching about the influence on youth. If the parents can’t control their kids, neither can congress. Force all pro athletes to take steroids so we can have better entertainment.”

Steroids and a bunch of liars

Filed under: Anger Management, Baseball, MLB, Sports — Author @ 6:38 pm

Ah yes, the finger wag - a sure sign of innocence - or is that guilt?

Steriods in Sports – A symptom of a sickness

Today, we were offered the first public explanation by Rafael Palmeiro on his failed drug test. This comes on the eve of a congressional hearing to determine whether he lied under oath when he denied using steroids.

I think I can save the taxpayers of America some money – cancel the hearing, of course he lied! They all lied. Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, Canseco…the lot of them. They all did it and they know it.

The bigger question is why did they do it? Lets present some points for arguments sake.

- Is it societies fault? Have we become so addicted to the big moment in sports – the long ball, the 99 yard touchdown, the slam dunk – that we have created this monster that is the steroids scandal?

- Is is the lure of big money? The pressure to win, the pressure to get the big contract?

- Is it simply insecurity on the part of the athletes? Almost like anorexia, the athletes take a look at themselves and see someone who could be bigger, stronger, faster…if only they had some help.

Of course, the overall answer is that it is all of these things….and steroids is just a symptom of what is wrong in sports, society and our culture. More on this later, but tell us what you think about the steroids scandal and stay tuned for more on this topic as we get Journal of Sports off the ground!
