This is a great time of year to be shopping for football equipment. You can find almost any piece of gear you need — apparel, footwear, helmets, protective pads, training equipment or game supplies — now at a lower price than it was just before the season began.
The best football equipment stores stock gear for all ages, from pee-wee age players through youth age and into college level. Some of the better shops will carry only football products, they won’t have any other sports gear, but most stores will find that it makes sense to carry quality sporting goods from other ball and team sports as well.
I think it’s hard to buy size-specific clothing and shoes online, especially for boys (and girls) who are still growing rapidly. Perhaps items such as cleats and pants should be shopped for at your local sporting goods store. But some of the better online sports stores are where you are going to find the big deals right now on all kinds of football gear. Thanks for reading.

There has always been a big debate through the years as to which sport is better; College Football or Professional Football…
For my money there is nothing more exciting than to sit down on a Saturday afternoon in front of my wide screen TV and watch a college football game…
Rather than big-money contracts and shoe endorsements.
That’s why I make sure I support my favorite college teams by purchasing as much official NCAA football merchandise as I can and by attending as many games as possible.
As luck would have it, my favorite college teams are spread out all over the country.

What’s your favorite football activity (NCAA or NFL)? Personally, I like them both. Each sport has a different type of excitement. I get a real kick out of watching NCAA football games because of all the school spirit that exists at each game. NFL football is all about money and not the individual contributions of each player. However, I enjoy a well matched competitive NFL game as much as the next person. Deep down I enjoy the top ranked NCAA football games a tad better.
So, the other night, I am watching ESPN and sports center has a five minute piece on the pink locker room saga at the University of Iowa. For those of you who don’t know about this, quite a few years back, former coach Hayden Fry had the visitors locker room painted pink in an attempt to “take the competive edge of the opposing team”. For quite some time it went along and became somewhat of a tradition there. Interestingly enough, and as was pointed out on ESPN, their home record improved significantly AFTER the painting of the locker room. (coincidence or not?)
This year however, critics have taken the university to task for an activity they say is homophobic and actually fostered homophobia because the color pink is associated with girls and gay people. The orginal complaint maker has had her life threatened and this has mushroomed into quite a big issue on campus and in our culture.
A couple of questions; has this had the effect that the critics say over time, or is it having an effect now that it has been pointed out? What comes first, the chicken or the egg?
Are “macho” football players always going to have a certain attitude about things whether or not a locker room is painted pink? In other words, does the painting of the locker room instill certain beliefs, or were they there anyway because of parental issues/societal issues from a much earlier time?
Are we as a society making to much of this? Why wasn’t it brought up much earlier when the locker room was originally painted over?
I don’t know the anwers, I know what I think……the question is what do you think? Is this a critical socitetal issue or a bunch of tough guys messing with each others heads?
