“Aged Lady“ wins the whole of Berlin over
After the 3-1 victory last weekend in Cottbus, Hertha BSC Berlin is still top of the table of Germany’s premier league. Having 46 points to their tally, they are currently 4 points in front of their nearest rivals Bayern, Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg and Hamburg.
Who would have thought that at the beginning of the current season? 2007/2008 Hertha only achieved a disappointing tenth place on the table. However, due to the UEFA’s Fair Play Rule, Hertha was able to seize the opportunity at achieving the UEFA Cup qualification. They ended up achieving this, which manager Hoeneß contemplated for the second year under Favre, through the backdoor.
Speaking of Favre: the Swiss, who had been active in Zurich before, has been coaching the Berlin team since the 2007/2008 station. Favre himself had been an international 24 times and led Hertha to a considerable third place on the table after the first half of the current season and smoothed the way for a direct entry to the international competition.
“Aged Lady’s rise to fame is more promising than every Berlin citizen had ever dared to hope.
The forward Marco Pantelic is ready for action again after a five-week injury lay-off, and Hertha is fully prepared for future challenges in the coming weeks.
It has already been confirmed that Bayer Leverkusen will be a guest in the Olympiastadion next Saturday. Trainer Bruno Labbadia’s team seems to stuck in a crisis, but admittedly they are always good for a surprise.
They have currently got 37 points, and are 7th on the table – which means that they are only 9 points behind the Herthans.
With model players like Andrey Voronin, Marco Pantelic or Arne Friedrich the fans can be optimistic that their team will host an exciting end to the season.
Next Saturday at 3.30 p.m. the Hertha is going to have another chance to make more good progress and to put their fans into a good mood again.
Some people might start dreaming after another victory, dreaming of the big cup, dreaming of the big surprise, dreaming of winning the German championship.
The only things that seems obvious is the fact that the “Aged Lady is back, tasted blood and has stalled in the first third of the standings.
Those of you who do not want to miss the game should search for a Ferienwohnung in Berlin rather than an Unterkunft Berlin so you don’t have to drive home after a possible victory.
Having said that I will also carry on waiting impatiently for the coming game on Saturday and I will keep my fingers crossed for a Hertha victory.
