The ability to repeat a simple golf swing consistently is a distant dream for most golfers. Hacks and slashes are usually the order of the day around most courses, no matter what part of the world you live in. Getting the basics right is the first step to improvement.
A key element to better golf that can be applied to see an immediate improvement in your golf swing, is to keep your head still and your eyes on the ball. If you can keep your head still, there is a good chance the rest of your body is following suit, which will allow your torso to turn around a straight spine.
To do this keep focusing on the ball and make a slow full shoulder turn, the shoulder needs to able to come under the chin and for this to happen your chin needs to be raised up. Try fitting a fist in the gap between chest and chin when practising your set up, this is about the right distance between the two. It stops the shoulder moving the head in the turn and limiting its movement. Tucking your chin into your chest is a common fault. Try incorporating lifting your chin off your chest as part of a pre-shot routine until becomes second nature.
As a way of making sure you keep your eyes on the ball, you should strive to see the club impact the ball, this will ensure you do not lift your head out of the shot early. If you top the ball alot, this could be your problem.

Well that’s a hard question to answer, but I don’t think there are too many out there. The fact is you don’t need the perfect swing to play a great game of golf. There are plenty of players earning a lot of money that could improve aspects of their swing.
I have not got a perfect golf swing, but it has improved out of sight, and I will share with you how I did it. Check out my story on how I shaved 7 strokes from my handicap in weeks.
Let’s talk about the back swing when you’re pitching. This could be one of the most misunderstood parts of the weekend golfers short game or pitching problems.
I own three pitching wedges. I own three wedges. I own a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and one that’s sort of in the middle. They go three very different distances.
But let me explain something to you about the back swing that will help you a lot. Most amateurs that miss/hit their pitch shots make a big windup every time, and then they slow down to match up how far they want it to go.
So, if they have a pitch shot, they wind it up and slow down and hope they match up how far they needed to go. Two holes later, if they have to pitch it a little bit further, they make a bigger windup and they try to slow down.
