The new year has arrived and with it, resolutions for change and fitness tops the list for many. It’s one thing to want to become more physically fit, and another thing entirely to actually do it. Many people start out with big fitness goals, only to lose interest and enthusiasm down the line. What we’re gonna do here is try and help you stay on track with your fitness goals, and get the results you’ve been wanting.

Martial Arts

If someone is looking for a new way to improve their fitness, taking a martial arts class can be exciting, interesting, challenging, and also fun. If you haven’t participated in any martial arts, the extra activity and exercises that are associated with a martial arts class are new to the body and will serve to improve your fitness levels.

Taking a martial arts class is a great way to get in shape while learning something new. Not only will you benefit from martial arts moves, but the sit ups, stretching and other warm up exercises are also great for your body. If it’s possible, take the class with a friend for added motivation and someone to practice with in between classes.

Challenge yourself by choosing fitness activities that don’t just exercise your body, but also expand your mind and teach you a skill. Instead of running on a treadmill or spinning on a stationary bike, get some socialization and make some friends in a martial arts class, dance class or other enjoyable fitness activity.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of those types of martial arts that will challenge you in many ways. BJJ became popular because of it’s prominence in mixed martial arts competitions. Knowing how to grapple is an important skill to succeed and challenging yourself mentally and physically is why many people take it up for their fitness program of choice. See what a great BJJ program is like at this Brazilian jiu jitsu Queens facility.

Participate in kickboxing if you enjoy martial arts. The way this hybrid martial art form is taught and practiced in fitness training will promote general fitness and agility. It will improve your joint’s flexibility, your cardio health and endurance. Besides promoting your health, the kicks and punches you learn can also be used in self defense.

Don’t join the many people out there who’ve given up on becoming physically fit. Do all you can to get in great shape and to stay that way. Hopefully the advice in this article will get you off to a great start and now all that you need to do is keep up the momentum.

Learn MMA and increase you confidence

Have you been watching the UFC and wondering if learning mma could be something for you? Why not try it out? MMA is one of the fastest growing sports, with clubs that take in beginners all around the world. You probably have an MMA club near you without knowing about it. To learn MMA you need to get a grasp of both standup fighting and ground fighting, and to do this it is best to train boxing and BJJ.

Boxing is one of the main styles of MMA. As they say, all fights start out standing, so this is an important skill to learn if you want to train MMA. This can be done either at a general MMA school or club, or at a specific boxing club.

BJJ is the second style you should train if you want to do MMA. It stands for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and is adapted from the Japanese form of Jiu Jitsu, with the difference that it is geared more towards ground fighting and real-life fighting scenarios.

Both these styles are great workouts you will see, as they both require you to use your muscles in a way you are not used to. Both are very taxing on your cardio also, which gets you in shape in no time.

If you think that this sport is to brutal, think again. There are fewer injuries in MMA than in many comparable sports, like Football and Soccer. You also have the benefit of being coached when you join a club, and the instructors will see to that the sparring doesn’t go overboard. Learning skills like MMA can be great fun and also give you the confidence you need in you life to achieve your other goals. After sparring with a 250 lb. gorilla, your boss at work might not seem that intimidating anymore.
