A study of self-concept and self-image of cricketers in relation to performance

Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to understand the Self-concept and Self-image of position holder inter-collegiate men cricket teams of Vidyasagar University. Top four inter-collegiate men cricket teams were selected for the study. The age of the subjects ranged between 17 to 25 years. Self-concept questionnaires (SCQ) by Dr. Raj Kumar Saraswat was used as criterion measure for Self-concept such as Physical, Social, Temperament, Educational, Moral, and Intellectual, and Self-image test (1962) by Doudlah was used as criterion measure for Self-image. The questionnaires were administered to the four top position holder intercollegiate men cricket teams of Vidyasagar University during 2017-201. One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used as a statistical measure to find out the statistical difference among the teams by putting the level of confidence at 0.05 level. It was found that all the Inter collegiate position holder cricket teams have equal Self-image.
