Effect of 8 weeks yogic exercise program on quality of life of rural senior citizens

Abstract:
Recent Quality of life research has focused on subjective perception of senior citizens as opposed to objective considerations of their lives. The first intuitive idea is to say that money makes people happier therefore rich people have a higher quality of life than the poor people. Health can be considered an important factor for quality of life. However, health and money do not necessarily bring happiness. This study was focused the effect of Yoga Practices on senior citizen of rural area of Anoopshahr tehseel to assess the quality of life. The researchers administrated the common yoga protocol as a research tool for this study. Forty subjects were taken for the study. Further, two groups (one experimental group and one control group) were formed randomly. Each group was consisting of 20 subjects. Experimental group (Group A) administered Yogic exercise Program three times a week for a period of eight weeks on alternative days. Descriptive analyses and ANCOVA was applied for evaluation of the Quality of life of rural senior citizen. ‘F’ value of 78.613 was found to be significant at 0.05 level, since this value was found higher than the tabulated value 4.11 at 1, 37 df.
