Effect of Prandharana and Tratak on selected coordinative abilities of physical education students
Author(s): Rakesh Kumar Yadav
Abstract:
The study investigates the effects of Prandharana and Tratak, two yogic practices, on selected coordinative abilities of physical education students. A total of 90 male students aged 18-25 years were randomly divided into three groups: Prandharana group, Tratak group, and a control group. The study assessed five key coordinative abilities—reaction, orientation, differentiation, balance, and rhythm—before and after a 10-week intervention using standard tests. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was applied to analyze the data. The results revealed significant improvements in orientation, differentiation, reaction, and balance abilities for the experimental groups, whereas no significant differences were found in rhythm ability. The findings suggest that Prandharana and Tratak have positive effects on certain coordinative abilities in physical education students.
