Purpose: The objective of the study was to compare the various sports achievement level between Urban and Rural school students of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh.

Method: A total of 200 subjects from various schools in Varanasi district have been selected for the study. The subject for this study was selected purposively only to those candidate who have participated in various game and sports. Their age ranged between 13 to 20 years of age, from student’s studying in both rural and urban schools. In order to gather the data Questionnaire was developed with the help of the expertise. Later the data was analyzed using ‘t’-test to find out the sports achievement level in Rural and Urban school students.

Result: the result shows In Case of Government school that Significant Difference was found in case of Gold Medal achievement as the (t) = 2.44, (sig .018) In Rural & Urban government Schools in Varanasi. The result reveals that insignificant Difference, was found in case of Silver Medal achievement as the (t) test = 1.88, (p-value 0.06) In Rural & Urban government Schools in Varanasi. The above table reveals that insignificant Difference was found in case of Bronze Medal achievement (t) = -1.07, (sig .28) In Rural & Urban government Schools in Varanasi. In Case of Private School The result shows that Significant Difference was found in case of Gold Medal achievement (t) = -60, (sig .000) In Rural & Urban government Schools in Varanasi. Similarly Significant Difference was found in case of Silver Medal achievement (t) = -7.03, (sig .000) In Rural & Urban government Schools in Varanasi. The result reveals that Significant Difference was found in case of Bronze Medal achievement (t) = -6.14, (sig .000) In Rural & Urban Private Schools in Varanasi. Hence in case of bronze medal achievement in private school urban school students was far better than that of the rural school students.
