Study of emotional intelligence among sportspersons varied at different levels of competition

Abstract:
The present study examines the interplay between Emotional Intelligence among athletes participating in various sports at differing levels of competition. The objective is to analyze how these variables manifest across players of team and individual sports, focusing on interuniversity versus intercollege competition levels. The study sample consists of 600 sportspersons of team and individual sports selected through purposive sampling from both interuniversity and intercollege competitions (300 each).The standardized research tool used in the study is Emotional Intelligence Inventory standardized and developed by Dr. S.K. Mangal and Shubhra Mangal (2009). Employing a quantitative research design, the descriptive statistics for the sample are presented alongside group differences between interuniversity and intercollege sportspersons of team and individual games are analyzed using independent sample t-test. The significant findings are discussed in the context of existing empirical evidence, offering insights into the emotional attributes of athletic success through psychological lens. This research provides valuable implications for training methodologies, and psychological support interventions tailored for sportspersons across various levels of competition.
