Abstract:
The study aimed to examine the influence of socio-economic status (SES) on various aspects of lifestyle and health behaviors among 105 male students from the Department of Physical Education. The selected variables included physical activity, alcohol and drug use, nutritional wellness, social wellness, spiritual wellness, emotional wellness, stress control, and intellectual wellness. Socio-economic status was categorized into three groups: Upper, Middle, and Lower, based on the education level, occupation, and monthly income of the head of the family. The study employed a cross-sectional design, using the Socio-Economic Status Scale (SES) by Kuppuswamy (1976, updated 2023) and a Lifestyle Assessment Inventory by Anspangh et al. (1994) to collect data. Statistical analyses, including One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Tukey HSD Post-Hoc tests, revealed no significant differences in lifestyle variables across the SES groups. The results suggest that socio-economic status does not significantly influence the selected lifestyle variables in this sample of physical education students.
