Effect of yoga and pranayama on the cardiovascular system of middle-aged women
Author(s): Chandan Kumar Paswan
Abstract:
The cardiovascular system plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health, and middle-aged women often experience increased risks of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) due to hormonal changes, sedentary lifestyles, and stress. This study explores the effects of yoga and pranayama on the cardiovascular health of middle-aged women, focusing on parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, and heart rate variability. A systematic review and experimental study were conducted over a period of 12 weeks to assess the impact of a structured yoga and pranayama regimen. The results indicate significant improvements in cardiovascular function, with reductions in blood pressure and resting heart rate, as well as improved heart rate variability, suggesting enhanced autonomic balance. The findings support the incorporation of yoga and pranayama into daily routines for better cardiovascular health in middle-aged women.
