A longitudinal study: Changes in psychological parameters across training seasons in Indian male athletes with different somatotypes

Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to compare the selected Psychological parameters of the somatotype male athletes. A total of 90 subjects based on the Purposive sampling technique of ages 18 to 25 years were selected as subjects from different colleges of Gwalior. All the subjects were divided into three different groups’ i.e. Mesomorph (30), Ectomorph (30) and Endomorphic (30). Aggression Inventory (AI) by M. K. Sultania (Contains 67 items/ questions.), Sports Specific Personality Test (SSPT) by Dr Agya Jit Singh and H. S. Cheema (Contains 100 items/ questions) and Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale (ADSS) by Pallavi Bhatnagar and included 14 test items, were used to compare the subjects of the research. To see the significant differences among the three different groups the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was employed and found significant differences among all three groups i.e. Mesomorphs, Ectomorphs and Endomorphs of at 0.05 level of significance.
