Abstract:
The study was to find out the isolated and combined effect of aerobic and Pilates exercise on selected motor fitness components and physiological variables among adolescent boys. To achieve the purpose of this study, sixty adolescent school boys were selected as subjects randomly from MAJPM Higher Secondary School, Raniganj, Pratapgarh (U.P.). Their age ranged from 14 to 17 years. The subjects were divided into three experimental groups and one control group; each group consisted of 15 subjects. Experimental Group I underwent aerobic exercise, Experimental Group II underwent Pilates exercise, and Experimental Group III underwent combined exercise for a period of twelve weeks. Control group IV did not participate in or get involved in any specific training program other than their regular physical activities program as per their school curriculum. The subjects were tested before and after the experimentation on Muscular Endurance and Cardio Vascular Endurance. The data obtained from the experimental and control groups were statistically analyzed using covariance analysis (ANCOVA). The experimental group had achieved a significant improvement on flexibility and resting heart rate when compared to the control group.
